Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 July 2026. This policy is adapted from Charnwood Counselling's existing privacy policy for this sibling site, and should be reviewed by Jo before the site goes live to confirm it reflects exactly what Charnwood Intimacy collects and uses.
This Privacy Notice for Charnwood Intimacy ("we", "us" or "our") describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you visit our website at www.charnwoodintimacy.co.uk, or engage with us in other related ways, including bookings, enquiries or contact forms.
Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at talk@charnwoodintimacy.co.uk.
What information do we collect?
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, for example through our contact and booking forms. This may include your name, email address, phone number and any message or additional information you choose to share with us.
Because of the nature of psychosexual therapy, some of the information you choose to share with us in a message, or in the course of therapy itself, may be considered sensitive personal information under data protection law, for example details relating to your health, sex life or sexual orientation. We only process this information with your consent, and it is treated with the same confidentiality that applies to all of Jo's clinical work.
Some limited technical information is processed automatically when you visit the site, such as your IP address and browser type. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and to check that our forms are being used by people rather than bots.
Separately, and only if you agree to it, we use website analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages are useful, and how people found us. You are asked about this the first time you visit, and nothing is collected unless you agree. Declining makes no difference to the service you receive, and we will not know which pages you have read. You can change your choice at any time. See our Cookie Policy for the detail of what is set and how to change it.
How do we use your information?
- To respond to your enquiry or booking request
- To provide, manage and improve our therapy services
- To meet our legal, clinical and safeguarding obligations
- To keep a record of correspondence in line with good clinical practice
- To keep the website running securely and protect our forms from misuse
- If you agree to it, to understand how the website is used so we can improve it
What are our legal bases for processing?
We rely on your consent (for example, when you submit a contact form, and for website analytics), on the performance of a contract (when arranging or providing therapy), and on our legitimate interests and legal obligations as a therapy practice, including safeguarding responsibilities and keeping the site secure.
Where we rely on consent, you are free to refuse and free to withdraw it later. Refusing or withdrawing consent for website analytics has no effect on the therapy or support we offer you.
Who do we share your information with?
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share anything you tell us in an enquiry or in therapy with advertisers. We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website:
- Cloudflare, who host the site, provide the Turnstile anti-spam check on our forms, and process our website analytics before passing them on
- Brevo, who deliver the emails our forms generate
- Google, who provide the analytics themselves, and only if you have agreed to analytics. We use Google Consent Mode, which means that if you decline, Google is explicitly instructed not to use your data for advertising or personalisation.
Where clinically or legally necessary, we may also share information with relevant professional bodies, supervisors or authorities.
Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, it is done under the safeguards required by UK data protection law.
How long do we keep your information?
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this notice, or as required by our professional and legal obligations as a therapy practice.
How do we keep your information safe?
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Do we collect information from minors?
Our Services are not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18 years of age.
What are your privacy rights?
Under UK data protection law, you have rights including access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate data, erasure in certain circumstances, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. You can withdraw consent for website analytics at any time without contacting us, using the cookie settings on the site. You also have the right to raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) .
